אפרת

"Orchard" (efrát), a female given name.

The "a / א", which is sometimes used at the end of the word, indicates the feminine possessive state, meaning "Her Orchard", rather than merely an "Orchard". This latter name "Ephrata" is the name of the city in Washington State[1] where the first Nazarani Metropolitan, Hadrian Mar Elijah Bar Israel was born. There is also a municipality in Israel by the same name.[2]

This should not be confused with "Aphrahat" (Farsi: فرهاد‎‎), the Persian sage.
